Recent ActivityBeth Hamilton is a Registered Nurse. She is a National Board Certified School Nurse and has
been at Gayle Middle School since 1995. Mrs. Hamilton is available to students during the
school day. The clinic is open during school hours to students who may have health needs
such as medication/treatment administration, first aid, illness/injury assessment as well as
screening for vision and hearing.
The School Nurse is a resource for students, families and staff for health information on a
variety of topics. In addition the nurse is part of the Student Services Team and the special
education eligibility process. She is also involved with teaching and training for staff and
students on various health topics as they apply to the school setting.

ImmunizationsThis is just a reminder to all parents of 6th grade students to make sure your child has received the required TDAP booster shot before the first day of school. Written documentation of this vaccine is required for school attendance. If you have questions please contact your health care provider or the Virginia Department of Health.

The following students will be screened for vision and hearing: All 7th grade students, New students, requests from parents, teachers.
Scoliosis is curvature of the spine. It affects 2-3% of the population. If the condition is detected early and appropriately treated, progressive spine deformity can be prevented. Seventh grade students are encouraged to be screened by their Health Care Provider during their routine physical exam for this condition.
